Nanny Cay's maintenance crew has been in full swing cleaning up after the passing of Hurricane Earl yesterday.  Like much of the BVI, trees, branches and a lot of leaves were lost.  But that was it.  All the yachts in the boatyard are still standing and all the yachts on docks the afloat; some have a little "scuff" damage.  Everything stood up well.  Even Peg Legs at the mouth of the marina only suffered two broken fans and a broken cupboard door; re-opening is still on schedule.

Miles Sutherland-Pilch, general manager of Nanny Cay, met with Bob Phillips, chairman of the BVISR committee, to sign the agreement last Tuesday. The renewed contract confirms Nanny Cay as the presenting sponsor and host venue provider through 2016.

"Nanny Cay is very pleased to renew its arrangement with the BVISR," said Miles. "Over the years, we have substantially improved the infrastructure and honed our preparations for the regatta from planning dockage and the supply of reliable electrical and plumbing services, to providing manpower to set up the village. Seven (7) teams took part in the 12th Annual Premier’s Cup, which according to all reports from the organizers, sponsors, participants and volunteers, was a highly successful event.

After three days of racing from 10-11 July, Team Anguilla was adjudged second place winners, with the home team of the British Virgin Islands placing third. In 4th place was Puerto Rico, St. Croix – 5th, Bequia – 6th and USA – 7th. The Team Pride Award, for good sportsmanship, went to Team USA. The CRA's Caribbean 1500 and Atlantic Cup arrive and depart from Nanny Cay, while the ARC's return event, ARC Europe, leaves from Nanny Cay.

Organizers announced on Monday that ten teams will be participating in the annual event. Teams will represent Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bequia, BVI, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, Virgin Gorda and Sail Caribbean.  Team BVI, headed by DonTae Hodge, won last year's event.
