Ocean Cruising Club appoints Port Officer for the British Virgin Islands

The Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) committee has appointed Miles Sutherland-Pilch, general manager for Nanny Cay Resort and Marina, as the Club’s Port Officer for the British Virgin Islands.

As Port Officer, Miles will provide visiting Club members to the BVI with information and assistance as may be required. He will be on hand to advise on navigation and clearing through customs, as well as offering suggestions on moorings and dockage, accommodation, provisioning and repair facilities in the territory. Miles will also be available to offer help in dealing with medical or marine emergencies.

The OCC is an international club administered in the UK. It was set up in 1954 to promote long-distance cruising. Membership is open to any proposed skipper or competent crew who has completed a continuous ocean passage of at least 1000 miles, in a sailing vessel of under 72 feet.

The OCC web site will have a description on the Nanny Cay port and pilotage to it. The Club will also be updated on any news or changes that may affect cruisers in the BVI.
